License
The grant of rights you receive when you purchase GlassKit, in plain English.
Last update May 20, 2026
[01]·Summary in plain English
You can use GlassKitto build and ship commercial software products, modify the code however you want, and keep your access forever as long as you don't break these terms.
You can't resell, redistribute, or repackage GlassKit itself as a starter kit, template, or competing boilerplate.
Everything else is detail. Read on if you want the legal phrasing.
[02]·Grant of license
By purchasing a GlassKit license, you (the licensee) are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to use the GlassKit boilerplate to build and ship commercial software, subject to the terms below and your purchased tier:
- Starter ($199) — one commercial product. You may use GlassKit as the foundation for a single commercial product you build and ship. If you build a second commercial product on it, you must upgrade your license.
- Pro ($399) — unlimited commercial products. Build and ship as many products as you want on the GlassKit foundation.
- Agency ($999) — Pro rights plus team seats (5) and the right to use GlassKit for client work (white-label rights). Each client project counts as a distinct commercial product.
[03]·What "commercial product" means
A “commercial product” is any distinct application, website, or service that you build using GlassKit as a foundation and that you intend to monetize (directly or indirectly). Examples:
- A SaaS app that charges users a subscription — one commercial product
- A one-time-purchase app you sell — one commercial product
- A free app that generates revenue through ads or sponsorships — one commercial product
- A client project built for someone else (Agency tier only) — one commercial product per client engagement
- A personal portfolio site, hobby project, or learning project with no monetization plan — does not count against your license. Use freely.
[04]·You may
- Use GlassKit as the starting point for products within the limits of your tier (one for Starter, unlimited for Pro and Agency)
- Modify the code in any way
- Ship your products built on GlassKit publicly, privately, or commercially
- Charge your own customers for products built on GlassKit
- Use GlassKit for free non-commercial work (personal projects, learning, portfolios)
- Use the open-source dependencies of GlassKit according to their respective licenses
[05]·You may not
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute GlassKit itself, modified or unmodified, as a boilerplate, template, starter kit, theme, or competing product
- Share your GitHub repository access with anyone outside your licensed team. Agency tier permits 5 collaborator seats; all other tiers are strictly one seat per license
- Use the GlassKit name, logo, or branding to promote derivative products without explicit written permission
- Use GlassKit to build a product that primarily exists to compete with GlassKit (e.g., another Next.js boilerplate for the Meta Ray-Ban Display platform)
- Distribute the contents of the GlassKit repository publicly (e.g., on GitHub, npm, or any other public registry)
[06]·Updates
License holders receive lifetime updates to GlassKit, delivered via continued access to the private GitHub repository. Updates are non-breaking by default; major version bumps are announced at least 14 days in advance.
You are not obligated to update your existing products to use new versions of GlassKit. Your shipped products are yours to maintain at your own pace.
[07]·Team seats (Agency tier)
The Agency tier includes 5 team seats — meaning 5 GitHub accounts can be added as collaborators on the GlassKit repository under a single license. Manage seats through the customer portal:
- Adding a seat: invite the team member through the portal
- Removing a seat: revoke the invitation through the portal
- Each seat counts whether or not the team member has accepted
- Team members are bound by the same license terms; you are responsible for ensuring they comply
[08]·Termination
This license terminates automatically if you breach its terms. On termination:
- GlassKit may revoke your repository access without notice
- You lose access to future updates, but products you have already shipped are not affected
- You are not required to delete GlassKit code from existing products
[09]·Refunds and license effect
If you request a refund within 14 days of purchase (see Refund Policy), your license is revoked and your repository access is removed. You must delete any local copies of the GlassKit repository and may not use GlassKit for any commercial product after refund.
[10]·Warranty disclaimer
GlassKitis provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. The full disclaimer and limitation of liability are in our Terms of Service, sections 10 and 11.
[11]·Questions
If you're unsure whether your intended use is covered by your license, email support@glasskit.app and ask. We'd rather clarify upfront than deal with ambiguity later.
